I have the chance to get a 2005 ES330 with under 60k miles from my grandma. It has almost every option you could get except ML but has the nav. I currently have a 99 LS400 with 192k miles. My LS needs some work, it needs a trans solenoid according to the code, and I believe it has the y pipe exhaust leak, and will need a timing belt very soon lay changed at 120k. It has ask the records and services done at the Lexus dealer until 130k mi. So I'm wonder when I sell it what should I sell it for? I was thinking 2k. What are your opinions.

Even with the labor $2k seems very low.

Here is a clean one @ $4800 with 192k BUT... it is from NY where they use salt on the roads which causes body rust. No rust showing but unless it was never winter driven (unlikely) the underneath will be rusted.

My 99 with 221k miles even in their lowest category (fair) has a KBB of $4800.

While the ES330 is nice and may be a good practical choice but it is NOT an LS.

We love our ls but it's not getting younger out any less miles. And the price is w/o tb and the shift solenoid. I also just replaced the p/s pump. And she runs absolutely beautifully.

To me the LS is worth the maintenance cost to keep it. Depends what you want in a car. I didn't like the 330's, not that it is bad. The driving experience of a FWD vs. RWD is different. The engine didn't feel responsive and it has typical ES build qualities. Interpret that as the LS is better built. One cannot get past age and the LS is getting up there.

I just got my Y pipe repair at a muffler shop and the guy knew what it was before I even told him where the noise was coming from. He said this was a common problem with Lexus.

trans solenoid? damn... I was quoted from 350-600$ PER solenoid from my dealer when the trans in my ES died... and no guarantee of it fixing the issue. And those trans. were a little more complex than my 2001 ES's, despite it being older and all....

I'd take the first 2k or close to it someone would throw at me and run! Someone might be into this car a new transmission if they're unlucky, or the scanner isn't one of the advanced ones [1500$+] that tell you what each individual solenoid is doing.

it all depends on the cosmetic condition - look at the driver's seat lower half where your butt goes - is it like new, or is it old, pitted, cracked? - your car could be worth 2K or 5K, even with the issues, depending on paint and interior condition!

I'd say you can fetch AT LEAST $4k for it. I mean, it's a '99 after all, so you're in a position to exaggerate the price a little.

price the car out on nada and kbb, then subtract ~80% of the value of having a decent shop do the repairs you mentioned.

Prices vary depending on location, without knowing roughly where you are and the condition of the rest of the car it's not feasible to assign it a straight value.
