Default 1st Lexus

So, today we bought a super clean, well maintained 1997 LS400 with 129,000 miles. This is our first Lexus and we are quite excited about it.

The two previous owners took exceptional care of it and all services are current including the timing belt. We are very particular ourselves and hope to post photos of our car after we detail it to our standards.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Lexus! My first was also a 97 LS400, Pearl White on Grey. I ended up giving this car to my daughter and son in law after I bought my 06 LS430 (UL) Mercury Metalic on Grey. As a side note for you and any others who may want to know how good your 400's are, before purchasing my 430 (28,000 miles) my wife and I took both cars out side by side. Our 400 had 178,000 miles on it and the serenity of it's interior was nearly equal to the 430. Engine performance was also very close. The 400 got better mileage than the 430, but the 430 has more features. Bottom line-you wont regret you LS purchase and it will probably start a love relationship! It sure did with me! Enjoy!

Welcome!

My first was a 97, was a CPO car that turned out to have been in an unreported accident. Decent car only requiring a front shock and brake caliper both replaced under warranty. Bought a 48k and sold at 90k prior to TB service. Bought and still have my 99. Bought at 34k and currenty 221k. Still reliable but needs rear bushings (from inspection as more or less un-noticeable otherwise)
I am confident you will enjoy your new car!

Give it a few months, and you will want to buy a second Lexus! Their level of engineering is amazing compared to other vehicles. My LS400 was my First as well, and i now also have a GX470.

just purchased a 1994 ls400 with 107k miles about 2 weeks ago. They are great vehicles. Not many 20 year old cars on the road and still looking good.

And that is not a joke... bought a 96 just to sweeten a deal on a Jaguar and 3 months later I am halfway done restoring the LS, bought a 93 for the heck of it and am hunting for a 98-00. Best engineered car in its class, ever.

And the Jag? its down in the barn covered up and nearly forgotten...

Early LS400's appear to be at the peak of their depreciation. Clean, unmolested examples are going to start getting rare soon, and prices will rise.
