lol, my hypothetical plan for an LS "GT400" race car consisted of a supercharger, paddle shifters, and this (somewhat ricey) widebody kit.

Little update:

I got the headers painted with some fresh heat paint to cover the welds and installed in the car. I'm getting the transmission bolts tonight from work and tomorrow I'll be cleaning up the trans and getting it ready to put it in on Friday-Sat. I contacted a local hydraulic hose company that is going to make a braided clutch line for me Friday morning. Also I'm ordering my driveshaft from "The drive shaft shop" in the morning, so hopefully it will be here next week sometime, and I will be able to do a test drive! I'm going to look at getting a shifter ordered tonight also. Wish me luck guys! It's getting close!

Got my clutch line made today. $64 out the door was not too bad, IMO. I installed it and its just waiting on the trans. I'm waiting on a shifter and the plug pig tails to come in for the trans before I install it. I also ordered the drive shaft this morning, I'm really hoping they will get the shaft shipped out by early next week. They said there is a chance if they are backed up that I wont get it until after New Years! Lets just hope they get it out sooner than later, because I'm going to go stir crazy if this thing is all done and I'm waiting a couple weeks for the darn drive shaft....

Mike, awesome job! Looking forward to seeing it completed (or as close to it as projects ever get).
What size do those bell mouth adapters neck down to from the 2.5" outlets at the S&S headers? Are you going to use cats?
So many people cannot drive a clutch car that it is great to see such a rare example of ability an initiative
I took my drivers test in a VW camper 4 speed and have put many many miles on clutched vehicles including my old TBird turbo (250k miles between the turbo 4 and the swapped 5.0 HO)
For some reason I am fine with an auto for most driving but will definitely jump at the chance to pilot yours or another swapped LS.

Thanks JBrady! The outlet on the S&S headers are 2.5" and so are the collectors that I had welded on. For now I'll reduce the size back down (2.25") to match the rest of the exhaust. But I have plans to do a procharger setup sometime next year and then I'll will run 2.5 from the headers back. Oh and no cats on this car.

I have had plenty of standard trans cars/trucks and this one is dying to have one.

If you ever make it out to florida, maybe I'll let you take it for a spin!

I'm going to try and post the link from my phone but here is a vid of the first start up. This is with the new headers (open) and still no transmission. Just waiting on my dang short shifter. Just wanted to make sure she started with the NSS bypass.

Don't. Maybe once, to laugh with your friends. The 1UZ just doesn't sound good with true dual exhaust. If you're fine with it being ridiculously loud, some kind of merge (x, y, h pipe) is needed.

3 words. Exhaust. Control. Valve. Now that you're (somewhat) running 2.5" piping, DMH/A'pexi/QTP make 2.5" exhaust control valves, so check that out some time. You could go from medium-loud, to beast mode, in a matter of a button press. Alternatively, you could just buy an actual e-cutout that just dumps the exhaust right at the opening, or just routes it through the normal exhaust.

I've had my share of electric cutouts and I could never get one to seal completely. They always leaked. I'm putting my custom exhaust back on it.

On a side note, do you guys think it would be ok to drive across town with open headers to the exhaust shop? Or should I have it towed?

Do the cops like pulling over cars for noise violations where you are?

If you have to ask, it probably won't make it. I drove about 30 miles open headers. I knew if I made it out of town I'd be fine.
