Default 96 LS400 A/C ribbon wiring burst. Help

Good day fellow Lexus owners,

So i was trying to install a new center dash vent I ordered online

Because, as you can see my 1996 LS400 is missing one.

But, in so doing trying to fit the center dash I thought I should remove the GPS Navigation system and AC console to get more space. Consequently, the 2 wiring ribbons for the Air condition panel broke, see picture.

So, now I have no A/C....and it is very hot this time of year. Any advice in the correct direction would be appreciated.

1) Can these 2 wiring ribbons be soldiered back together?

or

2) Where can I source these 2 wiring ribbons used or new online

or

3) My GPS Voice Navigation screen has not been working for years, therefore if it is affordable online at a reasonable price I may simply change the entire console one time.

If you have a spare wiring ribbon or even the entire GPS and A/C console I am willing to purchase this from you at a reasonable price. Your feedback would be appreciated.

your photos are not working, but this sounds like an expensive goof

A/C work should really be left to the pros!

Your attachments didn't UL correctly. Click <manage attachments> and upload them again.

Based on what you mentioned, try and find these at a wrecking yard. You'll play odds on the screen system if they work. Once we have some pics to see, can advise more.

yes, great point RA40!! - this is where the junkyard will save the day, those pieces would be $1000's from the dealership, but since they never break, will be dirt cheap at junkyard or ebay junkyard!

are you able to correctly detach each broken ribbon cable at its termination connector, like that one in the photo hanging? - this will be easier if you are able to get to each end of each broken cable and disconnect it and are able to remove the two broken ribbons out of the car - then you can either locate them at the junkyard or maybe get them repaired

Look like this is the JDM unit. My suggestion would be to call the Lexus parts dept and get the part#'s necessary and the description. I don't know what variations there may be for the 98-00 but it should be the same.

I would think that the ribbon cable has a connector, as cowboy mentioned, a junk yard dig should turn them up for cheap. Depending on price, might snag the whole unit if complete.

I have removed the entire center console unit as seen in the pic below..
From the latter pic you can identify that from the Top, the Part Number for this
Toyota Display, Multi Display Unit is 86111-50020
12V
AISIN AW Co.LTD

Then the Green Sticker in the middle (which I believe is responsible for the GPS voice navigation system) gives a part number of
TOYOTA 88650-50110
177300-2200
12V
