Default wiring issue!

my 97 ls400 scraped a wire in the fender which caused my engine to shut off and my starter to not stop.
i had to unplugg the battery for it to stop. i towed it to the nearest shop and he fixed the wires and got the starter to work properly but now the engine wont start. what could be the problem?
he also checked all the fuses and they were good, the ecu is getting power but wont link with this computer.

if it's the immobilizer you'd get a blinking security light.

more likely he missed a wire or some of the fuses.

you need a good auto electric technician, and they are hard to find, but a good one can repair a harness with solder, splice, and heat shrink as good as new! - the only really good ones I know are in St. George, Utah & Phoenix, AZ - but there are others.

have a proper automotive electrician look at it and confirm all the wiring in the fender harness is fixed.

You may need to get a dealer to reprogram the ECU/key as the immobilizer key is supposed to be coded into the ECU. Can't confirm 100% as the '97 was an odd year as it was the only pre-vvti LS400 with an immobilizer.

better locksmiths can also do the ECU/key reprogramming/matching, but not just any locksmith, as it takes a pretty hefty investment in equipment and Toyota's Security Professional program

yeah if you let it rub long enough and didn't shut the car down right away when it started to cut out. I've heard of a couple people who've toasted ECUs from letting the harness lunch itself.

You are in the minority though, for sure.
