Default Excessive wind noise normal at higher speeds?

We finally drove our recently purchase (99 LS400 w/ 130k miles) up to 80mph as we were taking a 80 mile trip. Wind noise was fairly loud. It sounded like it was coming from everywhere- windshield, sunroof, both front windows. When we drove below 70mph it was quiet but anything above that sounded like my old 99 Civic.

Is this normal as i assume the LS arent areodynamic? My gf 04 prius is less wind noisy at 80mph.

The seals are good as it was a garaged car all its life.

Whats a good way to eliminate wind noise if possible?

Oh, all windows and windshield are original.

of course it is! - the Prius has one of the lowest coefficients of drag (Cd) in the world!

washing & waxing the car will make it quieter to some degree (not kidding)

I would also clean all door seals (both door part and car part) with distilled water and regrease with the magical genuine Shin-Etsu grease!

Wasn't aware distilled water was to be used to clean the seals. For many years I've used a much diluted Simple Green solution to clean the seals and it has worked well from what I can tell. The seals are very pliable and the doors are still air tight. Will be ordering Shin-Etsu silicone grease today as my wind noise is excessive also.

ok, after further review and research, my statement was too harsh, I am revising it It's not bad!

BMW has looked into this extensively, as they have a lot of wind noise and squeak issues, they used to recommend Gummi Pflege - but I understand now they are OEMing the stuff in this video:

They have a application for everything. I don't notice any internal squeaks in mine.

When they designed the LS it had a lower drag coefficient than the same year 911. It was claimed that it also had less cabin noise at 65mph than a rolls. Given those two points I would say it should be quiet at almost any speed. I have a 90' and mine is near dead silent well past 100mph even with the sunroof half open.

I taped the edges of my windshield with tape to test if it was coming from the windshield and its not. I see that the LS460 has a known wind noise problem but wasnt aware that the ls400 had it too (or are we the only ones)?

I can see a gap right at the door/rubber seaL right behind the mirror. Is that normal.

Car was never in any accidents and all original parts.

This car is great beside the wind noise.

Anyone had this problem and a fix for it?

I don't recall hearing any difference in the cabin between 50 and 80mph but then again I usually dont drive 80+. I have occasionally heard a squeak in my car which has also been difficult to locate but you have to remember that as nice as the car is it is still an old car. Also I usually drive while listening to music on my commute.

That said I can give it a shot next weekend and turn everything off and let you know how it sounds in my 00 LS400. Also ill check if I see any gaps in the rubber like you mention.
