Gold Pkg On Antennae Factory Only?
I bought a 1997 LS 400 with silver emblems. Later decided to have the dealer install the gold package. I thought at that time this would add to the resale value. Few months later I realized other models had their gold packages including the antennae aerial. Apparently that's how you can tell if gold pkg is factory or after-market. This may not be true, I never asked, but should have. Now I'm asking. While I'm asking, may as well ask if you think it adds to the resale value or not?

There was never a factory "gold package" although the same aftermarket options and accessories were commonly sold by Lexus dealers.
Pinstripes are another example - never an official option but the same stick-on vinyl pinstripes were sold by most Lexus dealers.

"rare gold cladding"? Of course it's rare since it was never an option. Was the dealer that sold your car when new Lexus of Palm Beach? If so and if you are "lucky", you also have their rare vinyl roof "option".

the mid 90s was a time when the gold package was being used by dealerships as a $300 option, or more, to appeal to the buyers at that time. it was not limited to the lexus brand. honda, toyota, and the like all had this.
i personally think it dates the car. my 97 had it (i believe it is even stated on the window sticker), and i recently replaced all of it back to silver (not cheap at $20 each, where "LS" and "400" are separate ). yes even the antenna bezel was gold!
and where is this vinyl roof options you speak of jim?
