Default Can I upgrade my Headunit with a simple wiring harness?

I have a 99 LS400 with the premium sound which I assume is the Pioneer. I ordered a double din install kit and wiring harness off of ebay. The wiring harness has two plugs with your standard stuff including 4 speaker outs. Can I install my Pioneer double din aftermarket unit and not lose any speakers/sub?

My guess is you will lose sub woofer. If its a generic adapter. Was going to on mine but i went with beat sonic.

You will most likely lose the subwoofer.

Yes, I am pretty sure you can and keep your sub. I can't remember who makes the harness and it was a bit pricey. Was that beat sonic? They don't make one for the nakamichi setup.

You will loose the most likely loose the sub with the generic wiring harness. From what I read about the 99 LS, the premium sound system is the Pioneer version. If that is correct you could use Beat-Sonic and keep all your speakers and sub woofer that's a little pricey but probably the best sounding choice. Definitely no Beat-Sonic for the Nak system though.

In my 1992 I used the generic (Metra) harness and put a sub in the trunk, I didn't foresee the factory sub woofer to last much longer.
Correct me if I'm wrong, that info is just from what I have read online.

You know, for the price of a Beatsonic kit, you could easily find a decent amp and subwoofer combo. Extras like wiring, boxes and install might set you back a bit, however. All in all, if you're content with your sound system, but want more features and quick setup, get a new head unit and the Beatsonic kit. The only thing you'd really lose is the CD changer but chances are, you aren't looking at a new head unit for its CD playing capabilities. If you want to upgrade the overall sound quality (or quantity, per say) in your car, then do things the hard way lol

Sorry for the double post, but is there a harness I could use to make the radio install remotely easier? I have no need for the factory subwoofer since I plan on removing that and installing a pair of them in the trunk/boot. I see people on here commenting about their use of the Scosche/Metra harnesses. The Metra dash kit I ordered (literally coming to my doorstep later today) didn't mention anything of a harness. Would getting one make any difference?

I just read the wiring diagram and soldered in RCA's to the factory amp inputs and used it with my pioneer double din. Sounds better then the stock deck, Used the dash kit from ebay and love the fit..... Cant really complain about any of it....Looking in to upgrading the stock sub for a little more kick but thats not even a top priority.

I wish someone would take their Beatsonic apart and photograph it before installing, I am sure this $325 mystery box has at least $5 or $10 worth of parts inside!

I'm wondering where everyone gets these RCAs. Do you just get a regular RCA cable from an old DVD player and just cut and solder accordingly? Or do you go out and buy connectors from your local electronics shop?
