Default Junkyard find.. 90 Ls 400 with rare color interior

So last weekend I was roaming the local salvage yard looking for a wrecked ucf20 I could get a tilt away motor out of when I stumbled across this.. A grey 90 with a red leather interior. Funky!! Lol. I know in the early years of the Ls 400 they had some odd styling interior options, like blue and red cloth or leather, but this was the first example I ever saw in the wild. Kinda ugly, but intresting! Makes me think more ford Taurus or Buick roadmaster than a high performance luxury sedan.. I'm guessing others thought that way too, and why this color option was dropped early on lol. It's always sad to see a early ucf10 in the scrapyard. I had a 90 that was pearl white with black leather for years and it was the best car I ever had. Fast fun stylish and bulletproof. Seemed quicker on its heels than my 95 that I have now. Anyway, enjoy the pic.

burgundy, not red.

and not that rare iirc. Now if you found a burgundy cloth car that would be pretty rare.

That was always the one thing that was a deal breaker for me, was cars with a red/burgundy interior... What I find odd is it looks like it doesn't have the power tilt/telescope option, but it DOES have heated seats and TRAC...

Over the years that i looked, i stumbled across a few that had tno power steering column, and a striped down version of the power seats with no memory, and they always seemed to be devoid of any other equipment

Always trip out when I see those. Burgundy or blue leather. Or cloth. Oddly they seem to hold up better than the tan ones.

thanks for posting! I've seen a pristine burgandy on burgandy 90 ls400 in the flesh before. It was weird.

I've only ever seen burgandy cloth on an LS on ebay years ago. It was Black ext with red int. GO DAWGS!

I would LOVE to have cloth in my 95. One day i'll find some cheap JDM seats... one day

whoa! haha but it does makes sense since lots of car manus during the early ninetys had burgandy interior options. my 92 accord coupe has that color interior, and i admit i felt i was ugly at first but now i love it!

Hey, that's one of my LS400's! I have a 1998 and 1992 which is black with maroon interior, see the photos below:

The 1992 is super clean but recently we're having a dusty weather.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Looks pristine for its age. Are you the original owner?

Thank you. Yes I'm the original owner, bought the car on 6th Aug 1991. I don't remember seeing another black LS with maroon interior. many people criticized me for this color and were wondering why I didn't choose the beige interior ! I wanted everything dark.

Here we are in 2013 me and my LS

Wow I always thought the red interior was ***** ugly but wow it really meshes well with the black paint.
Actually, it looks really REALLY good! You probubly have one of a handful in this color combo left. Kudos on keeping her on the road so long and looking so clean! How many miles are on her?

Great find. I have a grey on burgundy '90 LS400 and am also an original owner. Up to about 340k and counting.... Been working to replace the leather interior with one from leather seats .com. Installed, the kit looks phenomenal.

If you don't mind, where is that car/what yard was it at? As you mentioned, these aren't that common and I may try to see if I can get a couple minor trim pieces. It hasn't been possible for over a decade to get this color in any new part and they are extremely rare to find on Ebay.

Thanks!
