Default Is it my alternator?

hello all,i got a 92 ls400 and battery died and had to get a jump, i thought i left the lights on or my car audio drained it out? so i recharged the battery for a day, worked good for 2 days now its dead again, i had replaced my alt last year due to leaking power steering pump and its a pain to do so i was wondering if theres a alt fuse some where or and trick i can do to make sure its my alternator before i pull it out??? thanks much

it could be several things:

1. battery terminals (positive especially likes to develop hidden corrosion under bolt where cable attaches, replace with real dealership part from any Toyota dealer)

2. alternator

3. Your battery is itself is going bad

4. bad engine ground(s)

5. Fuse or Fuse link

you did fix the PS leak, right?

How old is the battery?

If the cars starts and drives fine on its own, it's unlikely that the alternator is at fault.

Well since i owned the car 3 years, never replaced it and dont know how long the previouse owner had that battery in there?? If i remember right if it is the alternater when driving it would kill the battery and the car would just cut off since the alt not feeding the battery correct? Even worse at night since lights are being used

this is what you do to check the alternator working condition. put the battery on charge for like an hour or two. put the battery in the car and start it. now once the car is running take the battery out. if the car is still running, the alternator is good. if it shuts down than its a bad alternator. the battery light should also come on the dashboard indicating its not getting any charge. you could possibly have a short circuit. i had a similar problem where my amplifier was bad and it caused the battery to drain. took the fuse out and temperory fix until i replaced my amp. good luck.

yes. but i doubt its the alternator since you said you drove it 2 days after jump starting it. you would only last about 30-45 mins if the battery is fully charged and alternator is bad. all the lights on the dashboard would come on and the lights will dim and car will shut down. what im thinking is a bad weak battery not able to hold charge or u have a short somewhere, letting out the charge

DON'T DO THIS. It is a TERRIBLE idea to disconnect the battery with the engine running!! You can fry all sorts of very expensive electronics, especially on a power option laden car like the LS400.
