Default BC Racing BR Coilovers

Does anyone else have a set of these? If so what spring rates?

please search. many people use them both in regular, extreme drop, and custom rate form.

probably the second most popular coilovers after the Megan LP/EZ series'.

I have em. I think they come 12/8K... I ordered mine 14/10K.... If I had another chance I would have got 16/12K.

Thanks for the reply VanCity, The reason I ask is I ordered the extreme low's and had them set to the highest possible setting with 12k fronts and 8 k rear during installation and the car literally sat on the upper suspension arm (I think that's what it's called). The car would have dropped lower had there been a hole like most people do on bags. But then there was the drop from the coilovers left which is like another 3.5 inches or more? I just didn't understand how these were put together if they were literally unusable. Maybe I just got shipped the wrong stuff. Long story short, we Frankensteined a set that would work. For me, given the 4000lbs of the car, I had to go with with the standard shocks not the extreme low ones 16k front 12 k rear. Now I'm sitting 2 feet from fender to ground all the way around.

Out of curiosity, which setting do you have the dampening set to. Mine is @ 15 notches front and rear.

i have them as well, but on bags. they came with 12/8 as well. most likely they did NOT send you the wrong coilovers. they will go low past the upper a-arm hitting, and past the frame hitting the pavement. this is normal but never intended to be installed that way. i just hope you didn't install them backwards, front coils out back and vice versa.

as for damping, not dampening (i too was corrected before), since i have bags it maybe differ but i like 20f/15r.

We installed them correctly, short ones in the front, long ones in the rear. I don't see how that is normal when we had them set to the highest setting it could go (fully extended) and the upper arms were already hitting. It was the only thing keeping the car from going any lower. They were labelled as well. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that and see how it feels.

at the highest setting, fully extended, they should be at about 1.5-2" lower from stock, not slammed in any way. you may indeed have a shorter shock body than normal.

are you sure your are adjusting the proper collar? do NOT touch the collars that are directly below the spring. adjust the lowest collar locking the coilover body to the shock. loosen that collar and spin the lower body of the coilover to extend.

If i recall the math correctly, we measured the front stock ones at 22 inches and the bc's at 19 inches fully extended so there was about 3 inch difference. We changed the extreme low shock for the standard shock and stiffened the spring rates from 12-8 to 16-12 and it worked out Just need to mess with the damping for preference.

Call BC or whomever you ordered them from.
Your situation makes no sense. Too many have used them without issue.

i failed to read you had the extreme drop option. FYI, 3 inches in height difference between the shocks/coilovers will not necessarily convert to a 3 inch overall drop height. glad you got it sorted out.
