1 & 2-LS suspension compatibility
hey guys, i have a 1993 Ls400 and im looking to sell my stock suspension or maybe just the spring to someone who has a 1995-2000 body style, will my suspension fit his newer car, or will just the springs fit? or nothing? i am also new at this, my car is pretty stock and im eventually trying to get a new setup for my suspension and wheels/tires

OEM parts will not interchange like you're talking about.
for COMPLETE spring/shock/top mount assemblies the following is true:
'89-94 parts will fit on '95-00 cars and work fine, though with reduced travel and not-ideal damping since the '95-00 cars are lighter and weighted differently
'95-00 parts will NOT work properly on '89-94 cars since the shock stroke is different. Handling and likely ride will be compromised, as well as shock longevity.
Coilovers work the same way. Coilovers made for '89-94 cars will work fine on '95-00 cars, but not vice versa. (so Tein CS for a '95-00 won't work for '89-94 cars.)

1-1.5" Cushion
Resurrecting an ancient post here -sorry folks- but I'm looking to lift my '91 LS400 by an inch or so. I prefer that old school slightly taller ride height & taller sidewalls that certain older cars have without falling into the safari look, can't quite explain it but exemplified in this pic.. sort of :
Look at that wheelwell space & ground clearance, hella plush Anyone know what's the best way to add about 1-1.5" of lift, would 2LS springs with 1LS struts do this without compromising ride/handling? Also wanna go with higher profile tires.
Here are some pics for fun. Huge thanks for any help!

I have no idea, I don't think there would be an off-the-shelf solution. The LS ride height doesn't change by 1.5 inches over any of the generations, so I don't think it matters what components you use.
I'm surprised you want the lift though. Your car already has a comparable wheelwell gap & ground clearance to the example car you posted. I can't exactly break out the tape measure, but I'd say it's pretty close. You'll need to do a custom lift kit to properly fit the larger wheels though. Will the larger sidewall have a bigger OD than OEM? You can push it reasonably far before running into issues, especially since you're nowhere near lowered.
My only comment would be - modifications to the suspension away from stock will compromise the ride quality or the handling. If you put large rims and larger ties, and a small lift, unless you use really high-end fox racing or similar offroad shocks to achieve the lift, I can imagine it will be a pretty negative experience compared to the stock OEM "glide". If you use stock suspension and more or less use shock tower spacers or something, you'll utterly **** the suspension geometry and the car will probably handle substantially worse. I only mention this to set expectations.

Thanks I appreciate the insight. Yea it's hard to capture in a picture, and in the end what I'm hoping to achieve is pretty subtle. I hear you on messing with the serene Lexus ride, I was hoping maybe someone knew about an off the shelf option as I've seen OEM-spec springs and struts for 2LS applications with designations like "rough road" or something along those lines that might do the trick.
If the springs eventually need to be replaced hopefully a brand new set will achieve the desired stance as these springs sag over time. Otherwise if anyone knows of a way besides a spacer lift kit or going all-out safari I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks everyone!

Those special springs are only a higher springrate, they aren't actually a taller specification.
Yes the rear can end up sagging over time, your car appears to be normal though. I don't see any evidence of ***-sag.

I don't even think most of it will bolt up. 95' had a bunch of suspension revisions, the parts aren't interchangeable.
And even if it were, the ride height between the years of the car are unchanged.

I had Function and Form type 2 coilovers and it was way too low for me even on the highest setting. Thought about getting lowering springs for just a slight drop, but it looks like they don't sell lowering springs for the 98-01 anymore. I do see there are lowering springs for 95-97 models...would those work on my 99?
