Default Fuel System Treatment Question

The local Lexus dealership recommended BG 44K for the Fuel System Treatment and I got it at a "discounted" -- *lol* -- price of $30. The guy in parts insisted this stuff was a lot better than anything I could buy from an auto parts supply store.

I want to add something to my fuel every 5000 miles as part of my routine maintenance.

Just how good is BG 44K compared to other brands? What would you recommend I get instead? (Perhaps something a lot more affordable -- $30 just seems really absurd.)

Thanks!

its very good. i just used it on my F last month. it has the ingredient PEA you see in on the shelf stuff like lucas, chevron but has the highest concentration which is why dealers use it. it's the strongest you can get and usually the one where you can actually feel a difference with one treatment and should be used once a year unlike the other stuff where you have to use multiple times.

here is the cheap way to get the strength of BG 44K - go to Walmart and buy 4 bottles of Techron and put ALL FOUR in with a full tank of gas - easy!!

What kinda of gas mileage is the car getting now? Unless this is the worst of gas available stateside, fuel system treatments will have minimal results. My suggestion, instead of pouring in an extra $5+ each tankful, it works out cheaper to fill with premium Chevron, Shell, etc...

Reason why the dealer recommends this service is because it rakes in more $ for their machines/service dept.

Would there be any reason to change your oil after doing one of these treatments.

Techron does work, what is in the bottle is a lot stronger than what is in the gas at Chevron

Techron usually has a $2 off coupon attached to it, bringing each bottle down to around $4.50 at WM and 4 bottles of Techron is stronger than 1 bottle of BG
