'01 LS430 Foglights - UPDATED!!!
Hey all,
I got tired of the foglights not matching the blueish tint of the HID headlights... I went out and purchased a $80 pair of PIAA superwhite (blueish tint to the bulbs) hoping that it would turn them from a yellowish to more of a whitish...
However, when the dealer went to install the bulbs, the 9006 series bulb (which is the bulb listed in the application guide) didn't fit - it was too long and butted against the back of the lens. Anyway, we compared it to a standard Sylvania 9006 series bulb and found that the PIAA was both slightly longer and significantly thicker. We also compared it to another, lesser quality, 9006 superwhite bulb to find the same - longer and thicker. What is up? The bulb harnass and electrical part was perfect and the bulb worked...just didn't fit in the lens.
Any suggestions would be great...thanks!

I agree with squarehat: go with sylvania silverstars.

Color Clarification
Hi all,
Let me add some facts: Thanks to all who recommended the Silverstars - the silverstars worked, but the color didn't change significantly. While the GS series vehicles have what I think is an AMBER type color bulb, the LS-430s have a clear lens, but that lens tends to "yellow" the light I guess.
While the color was certainly a closer match to the HIDs that come standard, it's still off significantly.
I guess I'll just have to live with the color short of finding a way to replace the lens...
Thanks to all who responded!

go to vato zone and grab a couple of their "super blue" whatever import bulbs for like 10 a piece..
they arent good for headlights as the blue tint limits output, but if its just the color matching youre going for, they do get really blue.
