Default Custom skid plate

So I came across the idea of custom cutting and fitting a skid plate under my car to protect the pipes and oil pan from hitting hard when going over bumps etc for being too low lol. Just wanted to ask if any of you have this done? If so what's the best way/easiest way to do so? It will be done to a 98 ls400, pictures of it will be great and hopefully a write up :P

Haha my under cover is all kinds of torn up after this last snow/ice storm, and I contemplated ripping it off and replacing it with a diamond plate one - good to see an example of it being done.

Lol I actually need something metal, something that can actually take some beating/scraping. The plastics tends to wear off after awhile
