it is normally the fuse link, which is inside the lighter socket mechanism - search on here for how to remove it entirely!

I find some Americans are really kind and informative.

Toyota sets up double methods to prevent a fire or a smoke problem at the cigarette lighter line. One is a fuse in the fuse box and the other is a fusible link attached to the cigarette lighter box itself. You need to check both.

yes, the cigarette fuse link is an unusual extra feature that Toyota has implemented to prevent a fire from a stuck-on cigarette lighter, but fortunately, very few LS400 drivers smoke inside their car these days, they mostly use the cigarette lighter as a 12V port to charge a cell phone, so therefore I recommend people just remove this fuse link feature when it fails open (as mine did)

mine had rust all over the contact at the bottom of the socket just dremel or sand that contact point until you see bar metal . it worked for me, my Sirius adaptor worked after I scraped off the rust. I was just doing it in a hurry but a better job could be done if u take some time
