Default Wheel Thoughts and opinions requested.

So I managed to scoop a nice set of wheels and tires, only down side is the wheels need a complete refinish.
wheels have a reverse drop-center lip with about 2.5-3" and 4" of lip front and rear. The lips have proven to be a ***** to keep looking nice and have a little rash while the faces are showing their age.

Wheels are 3piece with forged centers, welded lips to barrels so I plan to completely disassemble to refinish them.

What I want to know is what sort of colour centres and/or lips would suite an Alpine Silver Metallic 96.

I have a big bag of Bronze Metallic powder sitting in my garage, if it's still usable.
I was kind of leaning towards a BBS Gold for the centres but not sure if that would look right on this car. i'm not a big fan of ultra-polish/chrome/ or silver faces on silver cars and black faces/polished lips is the universal symbol for D-bag status!

I was thinking maybe a white centre with a silver lip, or gold centers with a polished lip like old Porsche RS's or LMs, an light anthracite with a bronze lip.

My last car had RS PrimaDonna replicas, and that worked well on a Yellow car but white on Silver might be a bit too gaudy.

Curious what other LS owners thought of such crazy ideas...

Cheers

do whatever you want, it's your car and your money.

Just for the sake of our(my) eyes, avoid anything overly gaudy

Some neon like pink, green, purple, yellow. Just kidding but depends which style you want to follow. Personally, a brushed silver with polished lips is conservative and with a nice fitment is I've also liked the centers to match the body color. The "Hyper black chrome" is a nice look too.

I Pick up the wheels on the 18th....
Hyper black chrome?

I like a brushed silver and polished lip too but I find the wheels get lost on a silver car unless they contrast. That said, doing weird things with wheels usually makes them impossible to sell down the road.

Like the others said, do what you want. It is your car and money. Are you building her for us or for you?

Post some pictures of the wheels so that we can get a better idea of the style.
Imo, I really dont like the bbs gold on these cars. That seems more fitting on a 95 honda.
I like any shade of gunmetal grey on these cars.
Chrome can look good if it is not too ghetto of a wheel. i.e.
RA40's chrome looks good but i think if the same wheel was a 20" or larger it would look bad.

lol, I'm looking for ideas, I have no intention of building what you guys want.
Just looking for a little feedback on what works and what doesn't on these cars.

Wheels are 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 Maya STM's....

this is how they look new, although the ones i'm getting are in much rougher shape:

currently the front and rear passenger side wheels are rashed, all of them have heavy pitting on the lips and the finish on the spokes is cracking and starting to peel. so a complete refinish is in order.

i was thinking something like this: (not the same wheel, but similar enough)

Hyundai Genesis optional 9-spoke from the 6-cylinder sedan, say around 2010 model, are the best looking ones on an LS, I would say

I'm sure you'll do something nice ... post before and after restoration pics. I like to see that.
I think its a great wheels for an LS

I go with light gold/yellow centers, nothing too bold.

Gold centers with chrome lips would look best on a silver car. Just a bit of contrast, doesn't blend in to the point that the whole car will look "singular" both wheels and body won't cancel each other out or detract from one another, perfect balance imo.
