Default 1/2jz swap, anyone done it?

im having issues with the uzf so i was wondering ur guys thoughts on throwing a jz in the ls and converting to 5 speed. kind of pricey but i think it would be worth it. i have 205k on current motor so i figure its about time for a new motor. any input welcomed

Theres a quite a few people who've done 2JZ swaps, and only a couple of 1J's i think. Out of the 2 I'd go with the 2JZ with the R154 transmission. I plan to do the R154 swap soon and slowly build my 1UZ. The 2JZ/R154 is a relatively "easy" swap, just the wiring gets tricky. Search the forums theres lot's of information to be found.

going to a 5spd is ganna jack up your price about 4-5k. Need to do aftermarket engine magement, stock supra5spd ecu(very rare), or even more wiring. The GS uses the same tranny as the LS, so it would be more simple to just swap motors.

They all have some pretty valid points, but I would stretch the use of your current motor...205k isn't bad, you could continue your research, save up some dough-so when you finally pull the trigger you've already increased your knowledge base and know what to expect. Take the time now, to see what other members have tried, and what worked and what didn't work for them? GL, keep us posted.

why does he need to go standalone?

usdm 2jz FIVE speed ecus are not that rare, the usdm 6spd ones are. hell, a 5-spd SC ECU/Harness is more rare lol.

im already starting the project i pulled the 1uz out of my 93 ls400 and have the 2jzgte ready. my question is what mount/bushing do i need. from what ive been reading on the forums a member said that it requires 2jzgte VVTi mounts..this is what he says on a different post.
"Using engine mounts both left and right from 2JZ-GTE vvti engine instead of 2JZ-GTE unit. The vvti engine mount move engine about 2inches forward. "

from what car and year do i need to order the mounts from

thanks in advance
