I'm too tall

I'm not that tall but I have a long torso.

When I bought the LS about a year ago, I noticed my hair was tickling the ceiling. I liked the car so much I didn't mind or just figured I would find a way to solve it.

In the lowest adjustable position, I have to lean the seat way back in order to stop my hair from tickling the ceiling, which bugs the heck out of me. I don't have long or bulgy hair either. For a while, I cut my hair extra short to get around this problem.

Any suggestions? This is a 98 LS with moonroof if it matters... the moonroof does lose me some head room...

How tall are you? Just for curiosities sake. 6' 6"?

The only thing I can think of is modifying the headliner but this may open a can of worms.

xinkid Nov 7, 2012 09:38 AM

I'm only 6' 0.5"

The seller who was quite a bit taller than me maybe 6'3" or 6'4" couldn't believe my hair was hitting the headliner because his head wasn't.

I've looked at the headliner, it seems with the moonroof hardware, there isn't much room for improvement. I wonder if the seat rails can be lowered or maybe something inside the seat itself because it is a pretty thick seat bottom.

Get another one. My LS400 isn't ticklish.

I'm guessing that your definition of leaning way back isn't the same as most, because I haven't really known anyone to have that problem. I'm picturing you like the sit very upright and I'm not sure there's many options for adding head room

Interesting. I'm 6'0 and I don't come close to hitting the headliner. That must be one heck of a torso you got there. What year are you driving?

Im nearly 6'5, an ex O lineman... I do find the headroom limited at this size. My seat is cranked all the way back, leanin like an OG with the seat bottom maxed out & a slight tilt in the front for thigh support. I manage but more & more I want a 430....

thats weird that your 6' and your hairs tickling the roof! GS and smaller than LS and im 6' and i fit fine.

have you thought of leaning the seat back a bit?

I'm quite tall but never had a problem but mine has no moonroof so may give extra height.
Perhaps one of these may help fitted in the roof.:)

Does the GS have a moon roof?

I am 5'9" on a good day and I am surprisingly close to the headliner in my 95. I can barely get my hand between my head and the liner. This surprised me aswell.

I feel your pain.

PureDrifter Nov 7, 2012 02:09 PM

I'm ~6'1" and I fit just fine....

are you 100% positive that your seat is going all the way down?

yes it does

This issue must be related to proportions. Like height from the waste up or down. I'm 6 feet tall and I actually raise my seat for my ideal position. If I lower my seat all the way there must be 4-5 inches from my head to the headliner.

SpencerT Nov 7, 2012 03:17 PM

Yes Im posistive my seat is all the way down.
At 5'9" there is less than 2 inches of clearance
