Default My LS is Toast!!!

Last Sunday morning at 5:30, my 93 LS 400 expired. I was driving home after a party on Sunday and began smelling gas fumes. I pulled into my parking lot and began to back into my space, I heard a pop. I got out of the car to see what it was, thinking I ran over a bottle or something. I saw nothing behind the car but as I went to get back in the car and finish backing into my space I saw a glow under the engine. I looked and the car was dripping fire. I had nothing to put it out so I shut off the engine and got away and called the fire department. By the time they got there, the hood release cable had burned through so they couldn't open the hood to put out the fire. For about an hour, I had to stand and watch as they pryed the hood open. It was a sad sad morning. I still have no idea what caused it. Certainly some sort of gas leak but I don't know why it happened. I'd had the car in to the toyota dealer to change the differential fluid about a month prior. I do think the egr pipe was bad, I'd been hearing loud exhaust noise and smelling exhaust fumes near the engine bay for some time. Well, no matter now. It's gone and I've already moved on to my new car. I got a good deal on a 99 GS400 $27,000 after taxes. 54,000 miles, black with beige interior, spoiler, nakamichi, HIDs, heated seats, chrome wheels. Very nice condition. It was a sad loss but it should be a good beginning. Here's some pics of the damage.

It was a 93. 120,000 miles. In reality it was a bit of a blessing that it went up. I didn't have the timing belt change done yet and the power steering pump and idle up valve needed replacement/work. I believe the EGR valve was also bad. After getting full Kelly blue book retail value for the car, plus, I think my insurance (State Farm) is going to cover my tokico shocks and Eibach springs. I'm very pleased with how things turned out. I didn't die and I'm getting a better car. I miss my old baby but I'm sure my new baby will make me even happier. Gotta love a 4000lb car doing 0-60 in 5.7 sec.

I second everything LouLe says..... Bummed for your loss, but glad you got another Lexus! I will probably switch to a GS when my LS expires (which hopefully won't be for a few years). Much easier to find parts to modify.
Any pieces you want to sell off? Like your 16" wheels maybe?

Thanks guys. You're all great. I really appreciate the sympathy.

I really don't have any parts from the car. The insurance totaled it and sold it to salvage. I did pull off my clear corner bumper lights though. I'll probably put something in the classifieds section. I'm thinking $35 plus shipping. PM me if you want 'em. They're in good condition, the fire didn't reach them, doesn't include bulbs. They're for a 93-94.
