2000 LS400 Fuel Sender Replacement
Hello,
My fuel gauge seems to stop at 3/4 of a tank when filling, even though it took a full tank's worth of fuel. I did some reading around and it seems the 98-00 LS400's have a problem with the fuel sender rather than the clutster like the older models. I am planning on replacing it, but I'm curious as to what the consensus is regarding that diagnosis. The part is only $70 so the expense isn't bad, has anyone tackled this job before? It seems you can get to it through the trunk by removing the carpet.
This car appears to have a few gremlins, this and the auto lamps not working are the worst so far, and I plan on replacing the loose light swtich soon as well, but an improper fuel gauge reading is more critical than no auto lamps.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I thought the problem had been resolved and it was an anomolous issue with the fuel station pump, but now it's been stuck at Full for nearly 100 miles, but just now moved down halfway between full and 3/4, rising and falling at random intervals between those two marks. It appears it is the sender from what I've read (based on the fact it's a 98-00), I'm just hoping someone who has dones this job on a 98-00 can chime in before I start ripping things apart.
