What year is your LS?
Yes, you can pry off the long piece of wood trim in the center and should be able to see the whole cupholder mechanism and hopefully you can retrieve what ever you're looking for.
Read this if you're not sure how to take the wood trim out. This is for the 1LS 90-94 but 95-00 is almost identical procedure.
