Car only starts with gas pedal pressed
Yesterdy my car startup started to sound weaker and weaker each time, until finally the ignition would just click( sounded like a tazer). If i press the gas and turn the key then the car will start and the Check VSC light pops. I have had to start my car like this every time today.
Anyone know what this may be?
I have to get my car smogged and renew registration very soon, kinda sucks

Sorry, i dont have anymore info on it, that is all that is happening.
There is no check engine light though.
Today i stopped at the gas station and it wouldnt start, it was completely dead with no "tazer" noise from trying to start it, just straight dead. I got a jump start and it started fine with giving it some gas. One of the terminals was corroded pretty bad.
Im hoping its the battery, seems like it would be since a jump start got it back up and going...then again i dont know crap.

The "tazer" sound sounds like a dead battery not sending enough juice to the starter. Sometimes they click sometimes they make a sound like you describe. I just don't see what the gas pedal has to do with it, shouldn't be related. The jumping also points to battery but could just as easily be corroded terminals. Autozone tests battery's for free. They have a tester that comes out to the car (AARPS tester) although they will likely deny it. But if they decide to roll it out for you it can test the alt also. If they are real good it can test for bad wires and connections. Start by testing the battery and see where it goes.

I had a problem that sounded just like this. Changed the battery and it was temporarily fixed. Changed the alternator and it was temporarily fixed. Then whenever letting the car sit for a few weeks I'd have to give it a jump. So one day it wouldn't start even with a jump. So I cleaned the ground point and stripped the plastic off the battery ground cable. It was corroded real bad. So I redid the battery ground cable and the battery I thought was dead was able to start the car right up. And the windows go up and down a few seconds faster, too.
