Default 98, temp gauge high

Had my ls for 18 months, love the car. I replaced the radiator, thermostat, and extra about 6 months ago. Bled the system and had no problems with it until last week. While driving I noticed the temp gauge creeping up until just below the red. Got home, replaced the thermostat and flushed the coolant. Bled the system and it ran great. Two days later when my car is heating up it goes to the line before red. Bled the system again but now I noticed after cooling off all night, when I turn the key on the needle goes to the second line with the engine cold. If i disconnect the sensor it will drop to the normal cold range. Hooked up my scanner and found it at 79 degrees, warm up the car and it will stop between 187-194. I'll be picking up a new sensor on Monday but if anyone has any other ideas I'd really appreciate the input. Thanks in advance.

you do have the heater on full blast when you bleed the coolant right? and no apparent coolant loss?

I think you are right about the sensor. Also, change the cap if you haven't done that yet. It should get changed with the fluid.

Does anyone know the actual temp that the engine normally runs at?

Sorry for the late update. Lexus didn't have the ect in stock, 5-7 days till arrival. Picked one up from checkers and still having the same problems with the gauge. I'm thinking that its the gauge since it runs within the normal range on my scanner but ill wait to pass judgement until I can get an oem sensor next week.
