Default diy vip table?

ive been considering making a table for my 1gen ive looked over numerous threads and searched a bunch but I cant happen to find out what kind of material people are using for the wood grain is it laminate or vinyl , or where to even get it, ive seen them wrapped in leather and they look decent but i really like the wood grain look. if anyone can come forward and help id really appreciate it.

the "correct" stuff would actually be a wood veneer, but that's pretty expensive and requires a fair bit of woodworking knowledge. standard practice is laminate over ply/mdf i believe.

if you search around i believe vincent made a rear center console for his car.

Plenty of very fine quality hardwoods woods available. Depends how exotic and how deep your pockets are.

In OC:
Austin Hardwoods
610 N Santiago St
Santa Ana, CA 92701
(714) 953-4000

Ganahl Lumber:

I found this in a search of the LA area:
http://www.houseofhardwood.com/products.asp

Watch out for the rosewood family. This is a listing of wood allergies to various woods:

Have fun!

I have wanted to build a table for my 1st gen also. Do they just sit on the open glove box lid or what? If you have a ucf10 with a VIP table, please post some pics here so I can see how its mounted.
Thanks in advance.

I am in the process of making one so i will post pics when i am done, and @ocr I have seen ones that us brackets the slide into the glove box and bolts up so that the glove box remains functional, and i have seen some that delete the glove box lid and make that into part of the table so there is a big storage space underneath the table

Depends what you are looking for as far as edge trim pieces. Contact any of the above suppliers for edge trim options. If you do a radius corner, finding pliable aluminum trim will present some challenges. Otherwise plenty of vinyl trim options exist in normal woodworking supplies. If you have a router you'll need a slot cutting bit to cut the groove/slot for the pliable trim.

That's one that VIPdout sells for the rear.

Jonnyg66 - I did look at there site. I didn't see anything for pics of one made for the UCF10. I mainly want to see them mounted.

Not ment to be knocking on VIPdout or anything but, I don't care for their taste in rear tables. To me its kinda Blaa.. kinda like throwing together some scraps and saying "eh, that'll work".

I'm already making stincles for both front and rear tables. My rear table will be a little extravigant.

Nope Its from that same site. I personally don't get the need. I never have backseat people that often.
