Default 1ls spark plug gap

Hello CL,
I've been changing my spark plugs and gapping them at .044 for my 92 ls400. It has 237,800 miles on it. I've been gapping the plugs at .044 because that is what my local auto parts store says is spec gap for this car. My question is what do you guys with a 1ls gap your spark plugs at? I read in my owners manual that the gap is .043 for this car. Can anyone chime in and clarify this for me.

i generally don't change mine from out of the box gap (NGK V-Power for my '99) and havent had a problem. (i just check to make sure they're consistent)

I haven't checked or gapped plugs in ages. What comes from the box my memory recollects at .045. .003+/- on properly running factory ignition system is inconsequential. You are at more risk of having wider tolerances by re-gapping them that small amount than leaving them straight from the box. The factory sets these for the typical application, they are ready to go.

Spark plug gap spec is .043 in and torque them to 13 ft/lbs.

if you are using an OEM brand (which means ONLY Denso or NGK) as you should be, and you are using the correct plug for your car, the factory original correct gap of 1.1 mm (0.0433 in.) will be already set by the plug manufacturer for you!

yep, i've just checked the gaps out of the box and 100% of the time it's spot on. this goes for all the NGK plugs i've used on all my cars, not just my LS.
