LS400 caliper clearance vs Supra TT ??
Loooking to upgrade my Supra N/A brakes to 4/2 pot setup.
Rears will be Supra TT calipers (2 pot)
For the front I'd like to run the LS400 (4 pot) calipers
I am just wondering. Does anyone the difference in the LS400 and Supra TT caliper clearance in the front. Are the LS400 calipers less aggressive?
Reason I ask is because the rims I wanted to buy normally do not clear Supra TT front calipers and would require a spacer, since the backspacing of the rim would touch.
I've read somewhere that the LS400 calipers do not poke out as much like the Supra calipers. Can anyone confirm or have any estimated guesses of how much further in they sit? maybe a 10mm difference or more?
thanks.

the 2LS400 (95-00) front calipers are ever so slightly MORE aggressive than standard mkiv TT calipers.
LS calipers usually require 10-15mm spacers for wheels that do not clear big brakes.
on the plus side, LS calipers are substantially lighter than TT calipers, as they are fully aluminum whereas TT calipers are half aluminum half steel.

I was reading over on Supraforums how one of the guys swapped his TT front brakes to the LS400 brake setup.
Said with TT brakes they barely just cleared his rim, but with LS400 there was at least 1/2 inch of clearance.
I'm talking about the 95-2000, around those years possibley a bit older as well.

my information may be chassis specific, but it seems to apply to just about every LS/GS/SC i've seen with 2LS calipers.
also, make sure not to grind the raised areas, they are fluid passages and i've seen on more than one occasion pinhole leaks develop, rendering the caliper scrap.

Hmm maybe.
I also read over on supraforums of a guy who took his wheel on put it on his friend TT, and it hit the caliper.
Then put it on his Supra with LS400 calipers and it cleared?

The Supra TT calipers are larger than the LS400.
I have an 2000 LS400 and both an SC300 and SC400. The SC's have Supra TT brakes front and rear. I tried to put the stock LS400 wheel on one of the SC's in order to see if I could use an LS wheel as a spare. The wheel would NOT fit over the Supra brakes. Thus, the Supra brakes are larger.
