Megan EZ cut coil over body

I know a big problem with the EZ series is that the backs dont go low enough for some. Since the threaded body is too long to allow for the coil collar to be screwed further in, would it be feasible to cut the threaded body so the collar can make the coilover shorter.

I was seeing if theres other options to besides lowering the preload perch down, that I can keep preload at zero and shorten the actually coilover. Besides the spring rate being too soft for the height is there any other options i can do while i save for custom coilovers? Is there any major flaws to my idea?

major flaw= that's not an empty tube, it's the damper itself......you know, high pressure gas and shock oil....

for the megans, you can safely drop the preload spring up to an inch in the rear.

i wasnt sure how much of the body that shock took up inside, havent taken it apart yet. yea that is a major flaw good looking

And another question, I know typically theres a trend for dampening settings on coilovers, right now my fronts are set at 0 dampening, knob in the middle. But what way should i go about setting my dampening properly, usually you want the backs to be soft than the front right? or vice versa?

PureDrifter 02-26-12 05:25 PM

for a FR car I usually set my rears ~2/3 the stiffness of the fronts and then go from there.

try not to set them at full stiff or full soft, it's hard on the valves.

Just a quick thought. if you dont care about the ride, it might be possible to buy two sets of front coilovers and install one of them in the rear. That way you could just slam it down to the ground. I know the fronts go super low.

Yeah....you don't want to start cutting stuff...

just order BC racing coils from CMS.

^agreed. They're a pleasure to deal with.
