Engine or tranny whine?
How is the fluid in the tranny? I hope nice and red.

We've had some discussion about an extended 1-2 shift when the engine and tranny is cold like that first shift in the morning.

Yes, my '98 with 180,000 miles has a delay between 1st and 2nd when it is cold in the morning. Other gears are fine and when warm no issues at all.
Should I be concerned? Thanks.

prb78, you are fine, this is normal behavior on a cold tranny.

checked trans fluids, its not red at all lol i talked to a guy at the toyota dealer, because was thinking about just getting the trans oil changed, this what he said,if it aint nothing wrong with it dont change it,says he seen peple do that and seen cars wont even go into reverse and will throw the trans off,is this true to what he said??
