Default What's this in my trunk?

I feel kind of stupid asking but I could not find anything in my user manual. The connectors are located under the carpet on the very right hand side. The second pic is obviously some kind of electrical connection but the first looks like an air line I guess.

Ahh LOL. For a min there I thought it was an air line to inflate the spare tire if it were low on pressure. HAHA. Feel like a retard now.

No. You would have really felt like a retarded if you tried to use it.

Pure, I didn't understand your response. LS400 of all model years were completely prewired at the factory for a dealer installed Lexus phone system - not just for the antenna.

There are two coax antenna cables the trunk of the 98-00 LS400 and possibly also for the 95-97 LS400. One coax cable leads to the phone antenna imprinted on the rear window. The other coax cable leads to the rear of the center console. Connecting the two coax cables together completes the circuit and allows the coax cable under the center console to be used with a cell phone charging cradle that has a antenna connection.

Other cell phone connectors are attached to a plastic bracket on the bottom of the trunk tool kit housing - behind the trim panel. Still more cell phone system connectors are under the center console including one that has a mute pin that can be used with just about any aftermarket phone kit to automatically mute your radio when a phone call is in progress.

The steering wheel hub is also prewired for a phone system controller - look for a plastic blank on the left side of the steering wheel hub. The prewired cell phone system was even connected to the HVAC system so that the HVAC fan speed was automatically lowered during a phone call.

something cool i did on my 97 was connect this RF cable to the radio antenna using an extension wire. this utilized the imprinted antenna on the glass, rather than the retractable version which we (90-97) owners know tend to break over time. i get great reception without the hassle of a retracting antenna. the car looks great too!

Just did the same thing today on my 96 LS 400. Took the broken antenna and put it back together to look clean like the antenna is retracted but unpluged the motor. Disconnected the antenna went to Radio Shack and bought an adapter and 5 feet of coax cable and another adapter for the other end and hooked it together. Works great. Thanks for the idea.

you don't mess with Kansas on obscure LS trivia, especially concerning options, and especially options inside the car!

Still can't find that coax but for now I unplugged the antenna power. I have SiriusXM anyway but I also have HD Radio so I don't want to lose that. My antenna sticks out a foot at bottom so it's not the worst thing.
