Default help with under carriage

i recently had my catalytic converters changed out, the guys doing it, showed me i had a third cat in the middle, so they cut it out and said i should just straigh pipe it, my question is do i need the third cat, and they also cut off the heat shield, is that needed? I decided to cut off the last set of mufflers and straigh pipe it, it has a nice grumble to it, but will it effect anything in the engine?

Lol

I don't know Florida laws. Unless it's a California car, the third catalytic converter was probably not a catalytic converter but a resonator.

All I would be worried about is exhaust gases unless you run a pipe so the gases exit behind the car instead of under.

Don't never go back to them, if the state you Live in require a brake tag you probably wouldn't be able to get one and get fine breaking EPA codes.

ehh not really.

most LS' have the center as resonator, very few for some odd reason had a center cat that wasn't monitored by the ECU or checked by inspectors.

as long as you have the main cats off the headers with o2 sensors intact, you'll be fine for EPA/State emissions requirements.

thank you all for you response, we do not have emissions here in florida so i dont have to worry about that. The main thing i am worried about i want to keep this car in tact with least issues as possible, considering i now dont have the middle one, will this mess up the engine? and the heat shield around the pipes are done now also. im starting to think this guy got me good

as long as the 2 front cats are still there and he at least replaced that center section with pipe you'll be fine.
