Default brake pad wear sensor on and off randomly?

So i noticed a couple of days ago a warning light had come on in my car , but all is well after much searching the forums i find out its the brake pad wear sensor. Then i began to notice the light comes on and goes off randomly, and is never on at start up. My car is a 93 the first year to have this sensor from what i read, i also read that the sensor could be frayed or a short, so i was just wondering if you guys think this is more likely to be the sensor. I haven't had time to take a look yet so i would appreciate some input. Thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to check front and rear pads and if they're low, replace them. If that's not the problem then you have to check every single sensor to see if they're fray or short.

^check that first.

if the harness is in good shape it's probably one of the sensors. there's only 2 pad sensors, one front one rear. if one is close to gone it may intermittently be shorting.

It's normal, on my 99 Camry it do that. First I thought the emergency brake was up, but it wasn't and it kept going off and on so I said it gotta be the pads. I change them and it went off

there's 2 lights, oone for the emergency/parking brake, and another for the brake pad sensors. if the e-brake light is lighting up intermittently then check that the brake is fully disengaged and that the brake master cylinder is not low on fluid.

thanks for the reply's everyone, checked the trunk harness today all seems well there but good info for future reference. Now the light is coming on and staying so I assume what PD said about a sensor being very close to worn being the key.

So i replaced my rear brake pads awhile back and mine had wear sensor on both sides , wasn't really expecting that considering all the searching i did said one per side. I also wanted to ask what the part number for the retaining clip for the sensor is? one of mine broke trying to get the old one out and my replacement did not come with said clip.

should only be on one side. you sure you're not looking at the ABS wire?
