Default LS400 used parts source?

are there any junkyards that you guys go to that usually have ls400's? I messed up my neutral start switch and have to find another one. I can't believe that they are 100-200 for a switch when I paid 300 for the car.

Yeah, I go to Chuck & Eddie's in Southington, Ct. and I would almost guarantee that they have your switch but I highly doubt that you will drive 11 hours to come get it and most of the people you are asking are in Ca., 35 hours away.
Try http://www.car-part.com/ and find a junkyard in your area.

thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it.
Car-part.com doesn't have the exact listing for the neutral switch. I called and they told me to search for transmissions and call whatever comes up. That was a wasted hour or two. The neutral safety switch goes for 150+. I can't justify that since whole transmissions pop up on craigslist for $200-400ish. The midwest is hit or miss with Toyota/Lexus parts. It's either feast or famine.

Well, if all you need is the switch, and not the whole tranny, then the price of the switch IS justifiable.
I gave you the carpart link just so you can find a JY in your area. Try looking at Ebay for "Neutral safety switch Lexus LS400", There's 33 of them that come up for different prices ranging from $50-$300. (new and used) I don't know what year your car is b/c you didn't list it so I couldn't give you the link for the one you need. If a new one is $300 then paying half that for a used one is decent, especially when you need it to get your car started. Or, you can always try bypassing it, but then it will start in any position.

Makes sense. I am more pissed at myself than anything else. If it's not raining on thursday, I will try to bypass it and go from there for a quick fix.

On ebay I was searching for just the LS400, I didn't know that the part was interchangable from different models:

rushing pulling the engine/transmission. It binded right on that spot and broke the connector on the transmission. Luckily the harness side coming from the ecu of it is perfectly fine.

Be careful if you bypass it. I really don't understand how it would start in gear, like if it can screw anything up or not. I did it once in a 5-speed (Grand Prix) the hydraulics were screwed and I needed to start it in gear and shift with the RPMs. I drove 6 months (27K miles) with no clutch. All b/c of an air bubble I couldn't get out. The crazy things we gotta do in a pinch.
Fix it the right way as soon as you can.
