Default Finally got 17" 6-spoke LS430 wheels on my '99 LS400

I was fortunate enough to pick up a set of 17" 6-Spoke chrome wheels for a LS430 over the weekend. The chrome is not in the best shape in certain areas but I paid about $250 for the set. Found 2 different sets of Michelin MXV4s, one set new and one set like new...paid a total of $280 for all 4. Not bad considering these tires go for $190 each.

Got them balanced and mounted today. Snapped a quick iphone pick of my car in the parking lot at work. I'll take more later but just wanted to get something up. I've got Lexus replacement center caps on the way...should be here later this week.

The 17" 6-spokes are 7.5" wide vs. 7" of the original 16" wheels. Definitely noticeable but not as overbearing as the 8" 5-spokes would have been. I'm digging the final product. The '99 machined wheels look dated in my opinion made me feel like a gran-daddy. These wheels sport it up a bit I feel.

At any rate, here is a pic.

Decent look. I have these 04-06 chromies too, running this winter with 225/50 Pirelli's. Now I know the final look. Did you use 225/55 or 225/50 ?

I used 225/55 to keep the speedo happy and keep the ride plush. I only drove it about 7 miles from the tire shop to work but I noticed to ride to be only slightly stiffer...which is welcomed on the LS400 IMO. In the 10 days I've owned the car, I've noticed the suspension can be a bit boaty.

What did you do with your old wheels?

To be honest, the wheels have a fair amount of corrosion on them...in the bottom of the of the triangles between the spokes. They're not in the best shape but I paid a very fair price for them. I really haven't gotten a chance to take a good look at the car. I've been working and have a baby at home...no time! This weekend though I plan to detail the car and will take better pics and post them up. Pretty much anything beats the stock wheels of the 99.

I also found the same issue with my six spokes, corrosion & flaking chrome between some spokes. The faces seem to usually be alright. These are surprisingly heavy.

I went to a wheel shop seeking some replacement center caps and they quoted me $175 per wheel to re-chrome. Just not worth it. It's not really noticeable unless you're looking for it. Have any pics of your LS400 on these wheels??
