so i have been having this problem since i got my 95 ls400 the guage cluster does not light up but all the speedometers work fine and also gas and temp guage i checked the power and ground and also the fuses everything is good...Does anyone in The new york area know of any shops where i can get my cluster fixed? def not tryna pay $975 from the dealer...and also who ever had the car before me spliced the wire that goes to the orange plug on the back of the harness and changed the plug and also trying to figure out if the plug was changed to fit another year cluster..

have you checked the dimmer switch?

the dimmer switch seems to work fine lights on the climate control and radio dim when turned down

Can you snap us a pic of the cluster?
Otherwise, you'll have to look for the corresponding wire that was cut and see if there is a match on one of the harnesses up there. Or a connector that is not mated to one...

This is crazy, my car did this the other day except I had no power at all to the whole cluster. I went to start my car and the cluster lit up like normal. Then I turned the key to start then everything went black and the whole car had no power. I was nervous but checked the battery. The positive terminal was loose so I wiggled it down and tightened it. Then the car started but no power at all to the cluster. I got home and pulled the positive terminal over night. Next day connected it again tightly, started her up and everything back to normal. Try pulling the positive terminal to clear everything. It may help and It's free.
