Default Will 18" LS430 wheels fit my '99 LS400?

Will 18" LS430 wheels fit my '99 LS400 without modifications? I probably already know the answer to this but the ride quality will almost certainly suffer, right?

Yes and Yes. The tire size used on LS430 18" wheels are normally 245/45R18 which will keep your speedometer accurate. The original standard tire size used on the 01-02 LS430 was 225/60-16 - same as on your 99 LS400.

Great! So there are no issues with the brakes rubbing or not fitting within the wheel housing? Just picked up my LS and it wouldn't start!!!! The starter is going. Can someone point me in the right direction? The dealer wants $1200+ for the starter. I'll be doing some searching on the boards as well.

Ride quality will suffer only in a minimal due to the lower profile of the tire,,other than that you should be good to go.

Just to broaden my choices, 17" GS300 wheels should fit too, right? I've read that the newer the LS, the bigger the brakes and that wheels will need to have room to accommodate the brakes. How do LS wheels differ from GS wheels? The stock 16" wheels on my 1999 are about as boring as can be. I would like to get some Lexus OEM wheels from a later LS430 or GS300 or something...anything really, other than what I have.

IS/SC/GS300 or 400/430 wheels will NOT clear your brakes.

GS/IS350 and GS460 wheels will clear your brakes.

LS430 wheels will fit, LS460 wheels will not (they changed the bolt pattern)

OK, these are the wheels in question. According to originalwheels.com, these were offered on the GS300 & GS350. So where does that leave me?

ahh the '06+ GS 17s, hmmm....i wouldn't know to be honest, depends if the car they came on had the same brakes as the 07+. (the 06 was a bastard year to be honest, lotta stuff was changed for '07 iirc).

i would go test fit, are you local?

I was looking at those too. The place those will leave you is with 15-20mm spacers up front to clear the calipers and about same for the rears so that it matches up. The better solution among the factory wheels is to go with the 430 or as PD mentioned: GS/IS350 and GS460. Keep checking the wheel classifieds.

RA40...what wheels are in your sig?

This is a tough call. I could drive up and grab them Tuesday...but I nor the seller has time for me to try them on my car to make sure they fit. I just really cannot stand the stock look of the 99 wheels. Perhaps I'm missing something, I dunno.

The wheels on mine are ancient L-Sportline Model IV's.

Depending what style wheel you want, I'd just keep haunting the classifieds for the ones that really grab you. Wheels are fashion items so they do make the rounds as peeps update their rides.
