ok unplug the AFM/MAS. <<< if it all of a suden runs better without that plugged in you know what it is. if you havent replaced the o2 yet i would. if it was the ecu you would get different codes. if you go back to that "jerks" lextek article you will see they were getting different codes then you. i thought it was my problem at first too. after doing a seafoam and cleaning the throttle body most of my problems went away.

prior to the car not remaining idle, I unplugged the mass air and the car did not improve.

You guys are great and I DO appreciate all of your inputs and ideas..sincerly.

I wised up a bit here and called the Lex dealer that did the inspection last March, the service advisor was kind enough to pull the ticket back out and tell me what the Tech diagnosed. Clearly it was declined by the PO, but may as well try to see what the Tech told them was wrong even if they were too cheap to fix it at the time.

She told me that the Tech stated intake hose(s) were broken and that a pipe off the fuel (she couldn't make out his writing) so fuel X is rusted off. <--I have no idea what this is or where to really look.

I did meet the parts guy there when I picked up the new bulbs to replace the CEL bulbs that were pulled out, so I had her xfer me to him, he is going to pull that paperwork and tell me what part #s were listed for the quote and I can go from there.

I will keep everyone posted, I should have this information later today.

Thanks

I just went and snooped around while I am waiting, hopefully you all can help me ID some of these things and let me know what you think.

Ok word from Lexus parts guru is:

"I was able to pull the scanned version of the repair order and on the back, the tech wrote: "*EGR valve tube is rusted off and will mess with fuel trim. *Vacuum line off. *Air intake broken. "

25601-50010 PIPE SUB-ASSY, E. 1 239.21
25634-50010 GASKET, PIPE 1 12.77
25628-50010 GASKET, E.G.R INL 1 3.39
17881-50010 HOSE, AIR CLEANER 1 97.08

So that metal tube is the EGR Pipe (I have read about that in this forum), I would like to check that Vaccum line off...and the rips in that air intake boot warrant replacement.

Pic 1 - looks like an aftermarket part used to replace th intake tube.
pic 3 - part of the EGR system. possibly junkyard replaced
last pic - what remains of the egr pipe. Check to see it the PO just capped off the area and bypassed the EGR. Pretty common for most to do since it is in a PITA location.

Could someone post up a pic of their engine bay please. I am looking to compare vaccum hoses.

I have a 94 with trac. I am unsure what year LEXLS car was, but I am gonna post a side by side of his engine bay and mine and I see a hose on his that is not present on mine, this could be down to year differences or it could be down to my PO.

What is this pipe/hose? The pipe part of this itself has a bracket attached that connects by a single bolt. If i remove this bolt my guess it will come right out because it is not very snug.

TOUCHE,

Had you not persisted, I would not have removed the coil to take it to the part store to test resistance vs a brand new one. It was once I started putting things back together that the connector didn't just easily slide on, this is when I looked inside and saw a piece missing, tapped it and the rest fell into my hand with no force whatsoever.

Ok, now that all the back patting is over....you said easy fix. What "is" the fix? How would you recomend to fix this?
