First Toyota/Lexus... 94 Celsior

Hey guys.

I just picked up an imported 94 Celsior. It's got 84k (~50k miles) on it and everything works. I did a bit of research on these and really wanted one, but settled on a 98 Tercel. I've had the Tercel for 2 weeks but it's just too small for a winter/daily. So I picked up the Celsior that I had my eyes on for quite some time. I've owned more VW's than I can shake a stick at, but now am VW free. if I ever get another one it will most likely be aircooled.

For now I have my 05 GTO and my 94 Celsior.

Still learning a lot about it, and trying to figure out what a lot of the japanese buttons in it mean! it would help to have an LS owners manual to look at.

My first question is: Would a stock LS head unit be a straight swap? The celsior headunit only gets stations from 77MHz to around 90MHz.

on to a few pics...

The car is extremely clean. still getting used to the RHD but it's not so bad. I love it so far.

Welcome to CL, car looks clean. I might be wrong (it happens once in a while) but I thought those wheels were 93 only. It's gonna take some time getting uesd to the RHD, I'd like to try it but not full time. You might be able to get the answer to your radio question by using the search feature, it's your best friend.
:uh: Oh yeah,.....stay away from those darn VWs.:p

I've already looked up the Aux Input mod and it doesnt seem too bad, I may give it a try. Not a huge radio listener anyways.

Ha, I'm done with VW's for a bit. I've owned many MK2 VR6 swaps, 1 MK2 VR6 turbo, many diesels, a 20th AE... I think the next will be aircooled... or, brand spanking new diesel. But for now this thing rocks. It goes down the road far better than my 03 GTI ever did. And same for the GTO.

I couldnt say for sure about the wheels. The previous owner claimed that the 94 Celsior is the same as the NA LS400 in 1995. I really have no idea. The 2 front rims have 2 large gouges out of them, but no curbage and super clean. They will stay on for a while. I hope for coils and wheels in the future but for now it'll stay stock.

I also have a 1994 Toyota Celsior so any buttons you don't understand let me know and I will try to help.
As for the radio you can get a simple device that connects into the antenna lead with an additional 12 volt feed that shifts the frequencies so you can use the existing radio head unit.
As I am UK based the US frequencies may be different but still worth looking into.
Try searching ebay.com for "radio frequency expander"

for example

The stock Celsior head unit and amplifier is different to the LS400 as there is an additional boot mounted unit for the sound processor system, when mine went down it was easier to fit an after market replacement.

Specifications for the four basic 94 Celsior configuations may be viewed at http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/...lsior/1994_10/

Which variation is yours?

And, yes, the wheel model on your car was used worldwide on both the 93 and 94 Celsior and LS400.

An online owners manual for the North American spec LS400 may be viewed without registering at https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...nual-search.do

Welcome to the Club.

Thanks for the help. Does this just require the deck to be pulled out and this goes inline with the antenna cable?

Also, if I wanted to install an aftermarket deck, is there anything special required or is it the same as installing a deck in any other car? Considering something with Nav...

Mine appears to be the C spec F... I'm happy with it so far.

Thanks for the link to the manual!
