couple quick questions guys!

hi guys, i know these questions might be repeated but i just want the straight out answers sooooo... i have a 99 ls400, the speedometer doesnt seem to work ...stuck... but i pound my dash (maybe i needa pound it hard enough), and my driver side door lock actuator doesn't work. i heard somewhere its the two copper piece thats darkened and needs cleaning while others say its the motor itself...you guys know where to get the DIY for the door panels and maybe the cluster? thx.

i understand but im curious as to question if the 98-00 LS sticky speedo is exactly the same as the older 1st gen LS ones, where its some lube/grease build up thats sticking the speedometer

they all have the same problem, follow the same procedure to fix it. i will advice you to fix tacho while your in there because that will be the next to mess up

okay guys but i have another question and i dont think most of you guys have this but ... im able to shake my steering wheel when the car is not even on...like i can hold the steering wheel and it would wiggle towards like 10o'clock motion .... seems like something in the steering wheel rack assembly is loose or something. anyone have this issue?

Check your steering rack bushings.

Check your inner and outer tie rod ends as well.

thats in the column. when I saw the vid for the first time...i was wtf am I missing?

but I watched again, and my 91 does the same thing. the reason I havent done anything about is because I dropped the steering wheel into the service position, and turned off the auto tilt swictch. so since my wheel doesnt move when I remove the key, I dont think anything of it.

but thanks for the post, now im reminded to check it out....but mine didnt move that much, but enough to notice.

yeah .... i dont have the auto-switch option on the 98-00 LS. mine just goes straight to auto tilt and telescope ....but idk what needs to be tightened .... let me know if you guys find out ...i'll try to check out the inner/outer tie rods as well the steering rack bushings the remaining of this weekend.

ok, I took my steering column covers off.

played around, and my found that the bushing for the worm gear is worn out and has a break in the 2o'clock position of the bushing itself.

I did manage to get a couple pictures. I can email them to you if you like.

and there is a thread on replacing it, or atleast how to get to it. its a diy, telescoping not wotking.......or so I believe

hope this helps.
