thats a good question. one I can barely answer. I have a 91.
security works as it should.
twice, and only twice.......did I have the alarm set. came out of the store, put the key in the trunk, opened it....and the horn started honking yaddy yaddy yadda. I had to put the key in the drivers door and unlock it to turn it off.

im in my trunk all the time. and the alarm only went off twice.

I have tried qith the alarm set and the inside released and locked.....but still nothing.

the security works great for everything else....but I dont know what happened to the trunk.

so, yes......the trunk is tied into the security system.......or atleast mine was.....twice

dont announce what you have, be careful how you roll up and where. common sense goes a long way. if you live in an apartment complex, dont install your stuff there....day or night.
do it somewhere else, away from where you live. I installed all my stuff at my moms house.

no need to bump all the way home either. you dont have to be loud every second the car is running.

a little prevention and less advertising on your part, will help aid you in your ish from getting jacked.
and a little extra tip, the little key cylinder at the gas/trunk release inside the car, push it in. this disables the trunk from being open from there......but oddly enough, not the gas door.
so if worse comes to worse, "they" try to pop the trunk, they would have to do it from the outside, at the trunk.

if you really want ro know if it works, try this......

have the inside trunk release unlocked.
set the alarm by closing the door, locking it with the key.
make sure the "security" light is steady. will start blinking after I think 1 minute.
once the light is blinking, open the trunk with the key and see what happens.

if nothing happens.........try......
everything previously listed, but this time, press in the lock on the inside release.

and see what happens.

I have a pioneer avic-z1 headunit and a 800watt amp and a 12" sub in the trunk, and, I live.in an apartment complex....and for the last 5 months, I have had -0- problems.

2 Things you mentioned in your last post, don't announce it and then you tell us what you have. Good job. But that is some good advice; don't advertise it where you mainly park the car. My 93 alarm has never gone off with the trunk being open from outside when the alarm is set. I just don't keep anything of value in the car anyway. I don't want the weight of my tools and I'm too old now for a loud system. That was 20 years ago, loudest stereo in town.

oh my

it means when he is driving around near his home, he doesnt need to be bumping and being loud. doesnt need to annouce to the neighbors he has a system.
thought it was pretty obvious.

That's one reason(apart from being broke) that I don't invest much in my car. I don't care much either to bump the bass a lot. The way i'm set up now is just right for me.
