Default Can you chirp the tires on your 1st gen ls400

Just curious if mine is just a dog or what.....

I have a 94 bone stock ls400 and with trac off I cant even break the tires loose from a stand still on dry pavement, is this the standard? I never expected it to be rocket by thought it would have a little more ***** off the line.

Is the because the tourqe converter has low stall for improved comfort?

No, it isn't normal. How many miles do you have?

Mine is having some problems lately (at least a year now) where as before I could punch it and chirp the tires pretty hard. I could also do power brake burnouts. Now, I get nothing, just the enginge revving and off I go. No chirp.

I've been on this quest trying to diagnose this problem (with the help of others) and have come up with a few things that may lead to this..

Torque convertor (most likely)
Spark plugs + wires + caps and rotors
MAF (mass airflow sensor)
TPS (throttle position sensor)
Fuel injectors (+ fuel filter)

Some of these may lead to this problem.

94K with almost new oem tires (Goodyear Incivitas?)
Are you sure it is not normal? Any one else sound off want to sound off?

Did you get new tires in the time frame you noticed the change? I have a Celica that would spin the tires right into second (5sp clutch) I replaced the tires and you have to DUMP the clutch to break them loose.

Tires is another concern I forgot mention (thanks!)

New tires are harder to chirp, but still, you should be able to get some kind of chirp.

Could do it in first, and sometimes very rarely in second once in motion when my pedal activates the kick down button when I floor the LS.

I've never chirped my tires, but only once, my rear wheels spinned when launching off the line.

It was a 6:30-10pm class and I wanted to go home as fast as possible safely. So, at the first stop light, when it hit green, I gassed it in a way my rear tires spun.

I have never succesfully spun my tires ever.

In the last 7 or so years that I have had two 1st gen. LS400s,
I have never chirped the tires (on purpose or accidentally). So after reading these posts, decided to go out and try to chirp 'em.... no luck..
For the first time, I am disappointed in my Lexus.
I've got 225-60R15 tires on the stock wheels, which are approx. 2cm wider that the stock 205-65R15 tires, and they are new 40K (fairly soft) tires. I'm sure this had alot to do with it, but I expected to get a little chirp.
Out of curiosity, can the GS400/430s make a burn out (more than a chirp)?

Problem with our cars is the torque curve does not really kick in until 3500+ rpm and TC is low stall for comfort and economy. I think with a high stall TC and LSD, our cars can probably shave almost a second off 0-60 time.

I've never chirped my tires either unless I make it downshift while cornering (rarely chirps) or hit a wet patch.

I know I don't have a 1st gen, but my 95 will lay down mad rubber if I floor it off of a light.

One of the Michelins is like brand new, and the other is about 10% ABOVE the treadware indicator.
