Removal of rear seat on 1st Gen LS
Hey Gang,
Anyone know how to remove the rear seat on the 90 LS400? I am changing the rear air suspension. The rear seats need to be remove in order to get access the A/S bolts.
The rear seat is very easy. I have problem with the back support. I noticed there were two bolts at the lower portion of the seat. I remove those, but the back support still cant remove.
thaks

You are going to have to unscrew the seat belts connectors and unscrew two other screws holding down the back rest. Push the back rest up and out and it will unhook itself.

Healerhand:
How hard is it to change the rear air suspension?
How much you pay for your rear air shock and where you bought it?
My right rear a/s failed earlier this month, and the Dealer charged me $1,100.00 to replace the height control valve & the rear air shock. ouch
My three other air shocks may fail anytime soon. So I would like to know how hard to DIY?
What else could fail with the air suspension other than the air shock? what about the compressor?
Thanks

The front A/S is very easy. Its straight forward. Its about 3 bolts in the bottom and 6 bolts on top. No special tool will needed, but low bolt that connect to the lower upper arm control will need some muscle or air tool. Top is just 3 screws that cover the A/S electronic and 3 screws to hold the A/S down. You will also need to loosing an air tube screw between the engine and the shock.
As for the rear, i failed to remove the seat. Therefore, i didnt not complete the job. I got the rear shock used. I believed I paid $150 for both. You can get used shock from www.car-parts.com Search it under image.
I was quote from the dealer for $1050.00 per shock. I got a brand new one from Keyes Lexus CONTACT RONNIE @KEYES LEXUS 818 379 6700. He hooked my up for $760 each. If you have money, i dont recommand getting used shock, but its worth a try.

the rear is a pain in the a$$. my dad's 93 just got his changed and they basically had to dissassemble a bunch of crap just to get to the shocks. they had to pull out the axle mount and stuff. so good luck. oh yeah, the seats, just pull out the butt cussion, it's just snap on. once u do that, it's pretty much straight forward.
