Well, I decided to pull the rear mufflers off my 99 LS400 to check for sound and performance changes. Car is not much louder! Those center resonators are MUFFLERs... Also the inside diameter of the pipe is VERY small, around 1.5" or so. I am going to drive it like this a day or so and maybe go to the strip on Wednesday.

I LIKE hearing the engine although I would like a little MORE sound!

I need to take it in for my free 1st oil change on my CPO purchase so I will be putting the muffs back on as well as the air cleaner and engine cover.

After that I will pull off the center muffs leaving only the cats and center resonator... that WILL make noise.

So far, no loss whatsoever on low end and a little crisper thoughout. Totally subjective until I can get some hard data but so far so good. This is another FREE mod that is easy to do. Enjoy...

I know about the sound thing. I wish it could be a little louder without changing the actual mufflers. I have only the 2 cats and the 2 mufflers now with 2.5" piping..little more growl, but not much!
