Question What adjustments can be made the dealer on a 98 ls400?

Hey all

Quick question, is there any way to have the dealer program my 98 LS400 to automatically lock my doors at either 10mph or when I put the car in drive? My old Chrysler had this feature and I loved it.

Another quick question about the shifting on a 98. When driving really slow like in a parking lot or just going through turns in my neighborhood my car has like a delay in the throttle and jumps forward. It not always but when it does it annoying. I have done a reboot of the computer that I read in another thread. This car has a learning transmission from what I have read. So when I do the reboot it shifts very smoothly, but after a couple of days the throttle jump comes back. Any inputs on this out there?

Thanks
Jerry

Hey Horta, did you ever figure out what the problem was with your transmission jumping like that? Mine's doing it too, shifts really hard, like it's smacking into the next gear. Had the 90k service done not but 4 months ago. I heard somewhere that the throatle cable that connects from the throatle body to the transmission can break some piece of plastic on the transmission, which sends the wrong code to the computer "making it think it's being floored". Did you get this fixed?

Thanks

Hey I did my 40k service or somthing like that. Well they said (JM Lexus) that my injectors were in need of a cleaning so I let them do it. Lo and behold the transmission jerk went away. It has not happened since. Did that fix it dont know but the problem went away imidiatly.

There apparently is no customizable function to automatically lock your doors - I also wish there were one. Here is information from the technical section of this website:

I have a 98 and it does the jump or thrust that you are experienceing also. Mine happens when coming to a rolling stop ie. going through a stop sign without totally stopping then accelerating again. I have read about this on this or another site. I think it is a common issue with the 5 speed trans. on the 98-00 models. I'm not sure anything can be done about it, but the other poster said it went away after cleaning his injectors and there maybe something to this, bot I'm not sure. I think it is something we might just have to live with it. I just accelerate easy and give the trans. time to figure out whitch gear it wants to go into. BTW if I dont slow down to much I do not have this problem. IMO
Het HORTA how much did it cost for the injector cleaning . Thanks

How much it cost? I really cant remember. Also I am fortunate enought that I really dont have to look at the bill and worry about it. Part of being a car nut I spoil my cars, evey 5k miles they religiosly go to JM Lexus for thier next service. Whatever needs to be done gets done, with out question. I would be scared to know how much I spend a year there.

Now saying that they spoil me rotten. I have so much work done for free there its rediculous, free meaning covered under their Lexus "Good Will" warrenty. Thousands of dollars worth of free parts and labor. So it has totaly paid off for me to get my cars service there regulary. They have NEVER suggested a service I did not feel was justified, I'm no fool either.

Bringing this back, but those links do not work. I've been looking for the customizable options, but they wont work.
