Default 1jz Swap into an LS400 (1996)

I've done quite a bit of searching for some information regarding a swap into an LS400. I haven't had any luck with it so far.

I already have my mind set on doing a 1jz swap into an LS400. I will be driving the LS400 around with the stock 1UZ until I get all the stuff to do the swap. I will be buying a good bit of stuff second hand.

I'm doing Soarer 1jz, R154, good clutch, making a one piece driveshaft locally.

I heard from a buddy that I could probably just use the 2JZ mounts into the LS400, since 2jz and 1UZ use the similar mounts. And 1jz and 2jz use the same mounting points.
I have the harness conversion already lined up locally.
Is there more to it than this? I want the cluster to work and everything.
Im doing Tilton or Wilwood pedal assembly, deleting the booster/master from the bay, shaving everything, tucking the harness. Going for a super clean look.

I'm building it to be a drift car. Everything from the front door panels back will be removed. Anything unnecessary will be removed. I'm swapping the front seats for a pair of Bride Vios low max seats and sliders.

I'm going to swap the differential for an automatic SC300 one, (4.27) just to get the car to have more low end and feel quicker for 2nd and 3rd gear. I think with stock twins and the 4.27 Ill be able to slide the car, then go big single/aem/and other goodies when the time comes.

good luck, most of the info you need in terms of mounts and the like can be found if you look hard enough.

as it is i suggest you go to the drifting forum and check out fluffy bunnyz drift missile LS thread. a lot will carry over (info) but you have a 2nd gen car (95-97) so a fair bit will be quite different.

search is your friend. if you come up with questions that you can't find answers to no matter how hard you search, THEN post them.

Theres a way more in-depth LS drift build on jzxproject. Too lazy to find the link.

I found it, turned out to be a local guy from Tampa too, which is pretty cool. I actually know him. I had no idea he was building the car to that extent though. I found out I can most likely use early 2JZ mounts, just swapping left to right and right to left.

I'm still wondering what to do about a transmission mount. I'll probably have to fab something up to work. I'm also going to have to make some sort of shifter extension.

I'm going to.

I'm going to rock the uzi for a little while, install my Hydro Ebrake, put my pair of buckets/my Nardi wheel and quick release, and some BC coilovers. I want to get the car feeling right, learn to slide it automatic then put the 1JZ in... I want to get the motor and do all of the gaskets and replace some parts, clean everything and take my time.

What about just throwing a 5 speed behind the 1UZ?

That's what I would like to do. They make adapter plates already. I believe the most difficult part would be sourcing parts from say an sc400 to convert it.
