Thumbs down transmission problems

in my 90 ls400 the overdrive light keeps flashing and once the car warms up it will start of in first gear and then jump to fourth and will not kick down. yet i can shift it by hand minus third gear.

what i done so far is changed the tranny fluid and added lucas trans fix today. yet it still does the same thing.

any help will be nice.

thanks
melvin

I edited your thread title to make it a little more descriptive than 'wtf'....

and I used forum search to look for "overdrive light flash" and found these threads that might be useful

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ve+light+flash
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ve+light+flash (link in post 11 for code reading might be helpful)
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ve+light+flash (you already did this, but other folks will likely ask what fluid you used)

You need to pull the OBDI codes for the transmission before doing anything else, once you have these post the results and we will go from there.
First thoughts at the moment are shift solenoids.

did you read the directions on the trans fix, i think you need to do more than just to add it, i think it also say results may take a couple hundred km to resolve, what colour was your trans fluid in the first place?

it is the #2 solenoid
and the color of the new trans fluid is red. i ordered it from toyota themselves, but the old stuff was a real dark red, and smelled like burnt trans fluid.
