Lexus = ripoff artists
Changing spark plugs 20k miles before they are scheduled to be changed.
Ripped a spark plug boot. Lexus won't sell the boot by itself, only as a package with the coil pack. What an f'n rip off!
The boot is a separate piece completely. Now I gotta spend ~$100 for a crappy $10 part. And I still have the drivers side rear one stuck in there. If I can't get it out tomorrow morning, there's another $100.
What a scam. Shouldn't be surprised though.

You are taking the spark plug wire boot that attaches to the cap?
Find an ignition or speed shop. Back in the days, they would custom cut the wires and glue the boots onto the wire. Take your pick of angle for the boot 30, 45 or straight. If the wires are sufficiently old, might as well buy a set and replace.

Well it takes experience/training to make sure you use di-electric grease in the boots and to twist them on removal so they don't rip. Previous owner never changed them or put grease otherwise they would not have ripped .
Still can't blame Lexus because they don't sell every minute part separately . I should know i need a 3 cent diode on my wiring harness but it is only included with a complete harness . Oh well those are the breaks.

These were the stock plugs seeing as they weren't scheduled to be changed for another 20k miles. So Lexus didn't grease the boots when they installed them at the factory and then won't sell them separately. See where this is going?
I guess Lexus doesn't have experience or training.
It doesn't matter either way. No amount of grease is going to last 100k miles. Poor design with poor support.
