ls 400 is different from most cars, from gas door on passenger side to ..... !!! okay you can run your cable thru the firewall, location is passenger side. Look straight from power steering fluid reservoir on firewall you will see a grommet where all engine wire come from. u can access this hole from inside behind the glove compartment

Default firewall hole

I needed a hole in my firewall to run a hot wire for the cig lighter. Drilled a hole 2 inches left of where the accelerator cable goes through and it worked perfectly. Drilled the hole slightly bigger and siliconed a small piece of rubber tubing for wire protection, although it wasn't really necessary.
