Exclamation Need Help badly!! Break Pedal Hard To Press

This morning while driving to work. I noticed that my break pedal was really hard to press. The car would stop it just took a lot more effort than normal to get it to do so. The break pads were changed with OEM parts about 6 months ago and I didn't have any issues. I hear air when pressing the break pedal as well. Any suggegstions?

make sure the vacuum like to the brake booster isnt leaking and that the brake booster itself isnt leaking air.

Is it difficult/expensive to replace the brake booster?
