Default Im going to get an LS400

Ive loved the LS400 for a long time. And now I am in the market for one. I want to get a UCF20 (98-00). How much should I pay? What are the options I should look for? Are there any options I should avoid?

I guess also I should say im not looking for a steal. Im willing to shell out the money for a pristine, records kept car. I am looking to keep it for at least 5 years, so i want to make sure I buy a good car.

Welcome to CL.

Pure, I'll say it for you:

"please search"

Here are some topics concerning your question I found by doing just that:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/536567-looking-at-a-98-ls400.html

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...el-ls400s.html

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...igh-miles.html

You'll find that the answers to almost any question you could think of have been covered numerous times, so don't take a "search" suggestion by any of us coming across as rude. Think of it as us saving you time by not making you wait on a response

options could depend on where you live, heated seats are not common in Texas. but I love my 99's

Here is what I found useful in your links:

-look for a car with records

-nakamichi sound system parts cant be bought new but can be bought on ebay

-last update for the nav system on the UCF2.5 was in 2004

-a car with belts recently replaced is worth extra

-starter is going to go out at 150k

-if it has “D2R” stamped into the headlight lense it has HID’s

-if it has heated seats its likely to have HID’s

-People seem to find them in good shape with ~100k for about $8.5k (I cant find any deals that good)

Here is what I want:
-Black paint
-Awesome sound system
-heated seats

What trim should I look for? Is there any special editions which are different than what are regularly offered?

Black on black is a rare combo and very desirable for some. Good luck on your search and post pics of your LS when you get one .

Question: Is there anything I can do to convince you not to get an LS400?

The 2000 sound good, but will need service soon, but you would want to do that for peace of mind anyway....

Yes sdis what is wrong with 98 to00 ls400 I have had several and they have not dissapointed. If you want to get one with under 100k miles in good shape with records I think you need to realisticaly pay 9.5k to 10k

LS400s are an exercise in automotive boredom - they just don't break, but they don't inspire, either

It must be very inspiring then when the car is in shop all the time.

I get what you are saying, but this car is not meant to be a performer. It was engineered to be a big luxury cruiser and it does it very well to say the least. If that is what you are looking for, this is your car.

Nope.

Im done buying cars that are compromises. It cant be good on the track and good on the street. I have an AE86 thats pretty much race prepped. Its like that girl you cant bring home to mom. It was fun at first but Im tired of her. Its miserable to drive slow, its miserable to get in and out of race seats, the AC rarely works and when it does its worthless, etc.

So im going to get a car that makes no compromises on the street. Then I will buy a car that makes no compromises on the track.

What kind of service am I looking at? The owner says they did a major overhaul when the car turned 100k. I have no idea what that means though.

timing belt, water pump, and associated major service is due every 90k miles.

so you're due soon if you buy that. easy 900-1100.
